Monday

Hello world!

I just graduated from Miami University (OH) in May, and I studied Latin American Studies, Comparative Religion, and Spanish. I was also blessed to be a part of the wonderful Kappa Phi Christian sisterhood.

I've been home in Alexandria, VA this summer, and this year, starting at the end of August, I'll serve as a Young Adult Volunteer in Xela, Guatemala through the Presbyterian Church! I'll be living with a host family in an impoverished area, getting involved in the community and church, and trying to love people like Jesus would. 3 days a week I'll work at the local Episcopalian Church with their lunch program for elderly community members. This program is “a collaborative effort to provide food and a social space for elderly people of scarce economic resources.” The other 2 days I’ll be working with Voces de Cambio (Voices of Change), which works with young women to give courses on photography and writing, helping to provide education about self-esteem, leadership, racism, sexism, and other topics, which young Guatemalan women often don't receive.

I'd love to have you praying for me and following along with my journey!
